Valérie is a Project Coordinator and midwife in a project in Malawi aimed at preventing mother to child transmission of HIV. This is her story.
The care a midwife provides in Malawi is quite different than in France. It is more basic, and relies much more on instinct and listening to the patient. Midwives work in various programmes, such as the provision of gynaecological, obstetric and fistula-related care.
