A laboratory technician by trade, Rigobert’s job is to set up a state-of-the-art laboratory in a Haitian hospital. He must assess the current laboratory so that he can select the technologies and equipment to put in place. His aim is to put a high-quality system in place which meets the expectations of both doctors and patients. Originally from DRC, he has always wanted to join MSF and lend his expertise to supporting other countries’ capacity to cope in difficult humanitarian situations. Working with a team containing 26 different nationalities is very rewarding, in both a professional and a human sense. “Putting a smile back on people’s faces is wonderful: it’s the very essence of humanitarian work.”
