Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization created in 1971 that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters.

This position is opened as part of a temporary replacement.

Context

You will work within the medical department, whose purpose is to fulfill the association's social mission through its leadership, expertise, and advocacy by:

  • Co-developing medical and operational strategies;

  • Providing relevant medical support tailored to specific contexts;

  • Continuously improving the quality of care and compliance with medical ethics;

  • Conducting operational research and developing new medical approaches;

  • Advocating internally and externally based on field needs, our experience, and our research findings; and

  • Developing links between MSF and the medical world.

Reporting to the head of the pharmacy department, your mission is to use your expertise to contribute to better patient care in MSF projects.

Within the medical department, the team of pharmacists in charge of pharmacy matters has the overall objective of securing and guaranteeing the quality of supplies, improving pharmacy management and good pharmaceutical practices in all countries of intervention, and providing support to missions and headquarters on all issues related to the above-mentioned areas.

You will work closely with the various representatives of the medical department as well as with members of the operations department, the purchasing and procurement department, and MSF Logistics.

Main responsibilities:

1/ Support and advice for operations (headquarters and field):

  • Management of the shared parispharma email account,

  • Support for the standard medical list (MSL),

  • Technical advice on the organization of the pharmacy at various levels (coordination, project, consumption unit): organization, size, layout, storage conditions (Good Distribution and Storage Practices - GDP),

  • Support on Good Pharmaceutical Practices (GPP),

  • Support for medical managers in analyzing monthly pharmacy project reports with KPI (Key Performance Indicator) monitoring and estimating needs (medical orders),

  • Assistance in implementing tools to ensure the rational use of medical products,

  • Assistance with the management of specific stocks (psychotropic and narcotic drugs/cold chain/nutritional inputs/pre-positioned stocks),

  • Support for the destruction of medical products in the field.

  • Support for import restrictions in certain countries.

  • Budgeting for medical orders.

2/ Specific files

  • Responsible for pharmacovigilance.

  • Responsible for supporting an operational unit

3/ Training

  • Participates in all training courses in which the Parispharma office is involved.

  • Briefing of pharmas/comed/medref.

This job description may be revised for operational reasons or due to the priorities of the medical department.

Required profile

Education/Experience:

  • Pharmacist degree required

  • 5 years of professional experience, minimum 2 with MSF, at least one in coordination.

  • Experience in developing countries (with MSF or other organizations).

Languages: French (B1 min), English (B2 min). 

Skills :

  • Writing skills,

  • Project management skills,

  • Technical expertise in your field.            

Aptitudes: Good command of IT tools; mobility and availability; analytical and reporting skills; adaptability, flexibility; ability to work in a team while being autonomous.

Sspecificities of the position

Status: 5-month fixed-term contract, part-time (50%). Management position based in Paris (possibility to work from remote to be discussed).

Conditions: €55.6K (based on full-time employment) gross annual salary over 13 months. Supplementary health insurance covered 100% by Médecins Sans Frontières. Meal vouchers with a face value of €12 (60% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières). 50% of public transport costs covered.

Position available: as soon as possible

Due to administrative constraints related to the duration of the contract, candidates must already have a work permit in France (European Union citizen) or a residence permit allowing them to work on French soil.
