NURSING QUALIFICATION 

  • Degree level or 3-year equivalent program as a professional entry requirement

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • a minimum of 3 years experience post qualification 
  • a minimum of 2 years acute care experience working in 2 different departments, in a hospital setting, is essential within the past 5 years

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • nurses with experience in areas such as: emergency and critical care, neonates, perioperative, oncology, palliative, non-communicable diseases
  • 6 months’ or more experience in pediatrics is an asset
  • an experience as a manager or supervisor of a department or facility 
  • a postgraduate qualification in tropical nursing, medicine or diseases 
  • an experience living and working in a low resource or remote healthcare setting different to your usual working context
  • a significant experience in coaching, teaching or mentoring
  • participation in meetings or committees (outbreak, mortality, infection prevention and control)
  • an experience with another humanitarian organization 

AVAILABILITY

  • 6-9 months per assignment

LANGUAGES

  • English proficiency (B1 level)
  • French proficiency (B1 level)

POSSIBLE POSITIONS 

MSF nurses provide evidence-based and person-centered quality of care to all patients, their families, and their communities.

CLINICAL SUPPORT NURSE (TECHNICAL SUPPORT POSITION)

  • Plan, organize, and evaluate the nursing team and nursing activities with the knowledge, skills, resources, and materials to deliver evidence-based, person/family/community-centered quality nursing care according to adapted and updated nursing knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patient’s health conditions
  • Analyse operational needs for nursing quality of care including but not limited to spatial environment, equipment and supplies and human resources
  • To develop/update/continue in the project defined Nursing Learning and Development Strategy using validated quality improvement tools and mixed methodologies, identifying needs, setting objectives and implementing realistic objectives.

 HEAD NURSE (HOSPITAL) / NURSING ACTIVITY MANAGER (HOSPITAL OR WARD/DEPARTMENT) / NURSE SUPERVISOR (WARD/DEPARTMENT)

  • Management of the hospital activity, coordinating patient flow/inpatient pathways and ensuring and monitoring quality of care
  • Managing infectious diseases outbreak response and planning, and emergency/ mass casualty planning
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams, implement strategic improvements, and ensure compliance with MSF guidelines and project standards
  • Support and/or manage human resources, pharmacy and biomedical logistics, data analysis, and budget planning.
